Rabbit grooming is essential for maintaining the health and well-being of a rabbit. Grooming involves various tasks that help keep the rabbit clean and comfortable and help to reduce shedding in your home.

Key Grooming Services:

• Combing/De-shedding: Regular combing is crucial. It helps remove loose fur, prevents matting in the long-haired breeds and reduces the risk of ingesting hair. A good diet of 80% Timothy hay along with regular grooming can help prevent GI stasis and blockages that can be painful and even deadly for your rabbit. Prevention is cheaper than an emergency vet visit! 
• Shaving: Long-haired breeds such as Angoras and some mixed breeds require regular clipping. If regular shaving is not done this will cause mats that can eventually form into a pelted mat. This causes reduced mobility issues by pulling on the skin and is very painful for the rabbit. 
• Nail Trimming: Rabbits nails grow continuously and need to be trimmed regularly to prevent them from becoming too long, which can lead to discomfort, injury and foot deformities. 
• Ear Cleaning: Rabbits are prone to ear infections, so regular ear checks and cleaning can prevent wax buildup and other issues
• Butt Bathing: Unlike other pets, rabbits should not be bathed, as fully submersing them can be harmful and in some cases even deadly. However, a carefully done butt bath may be necessary in cases of a poopy butt. 
• Scent Gland Cleaning: Rabbits have scent glands that may require cleaning to prevent infection or odor issues.

Choosing the Right Service

When selecting a grooming service, it’s important to understand the individual needs of your rabbit. If your bunny is matted, sending us a picture in advance may be helpful in determining price and how much time may be required to complete the groom. On occasion, we may feel that shaving might need to be done over more than one visit to minimize any potential stress on a rabbit due to duration of time.
